I wanted to remove my mirror and spent a lot of time prying on it and couldn't get it out. The visor is basically a piece of Masonite with foam rubber and a cover on it. I don't know how the mirror is attached to the Masonite. I assumed it just snapped in, but it didn't want to come out. I couldn't find any screws, so it remains a mystery.
I want to recover my visor on the passenger side of a 1987 vert but how do I remove the mirror?
I've had mine out because the vanity light wouldn't work. I replaced the whole unt. You'll need a good pry tool (real cheap with a Harbor Freight coupon) and pry around the vanity mirror outer housing frame, the part that touches the fabric wth the vanity mirror cover closed. Keep prying, keep prying all around the housig until the housing comes loose. It is only held in place by a couple of springs PUSHED INTO the cardboard of the visor. One removed open the lid on the housing and the mirror will fall out.
