Default What rims?

Getting new tires. Do I go with sawtooth or what I think are ZR1 rims?

I like the zr1 rims of course but they are sooo dark compared to the stock sawtooth. I think the sawtooth contrast well against and accent the green body.

The ZR1 rims are all matching in size so I could rotate the tires.

The ZR1 fronts are wider (275 40r17) than the the factory fronts 255 40r17 causing steering to feel heavy. Or maybe that's just a characteristic of a c4... I donno.

I think a dark car looks good with chrome wheels and a bright car looks good with dark wheels. Unless it's a black are, then I go black on everything and make it sinister.
I have an aqua blue 94 and I'm going with black or gunmetal wheels.

My 96 has 275 40 17s all around. Do the late c4s handle better with narrower wheels and tires on the front? I suspect it might hunt less with less on the road. I'm agonizing over what to put on mine if the snow ever melts. I have the argent 5 spoke factory wheels now and am looking at a set of C5s in chrome or polished aluminum. I go back and forth on sizing. I don't mean to hijack your thread but your comment about going narrower intrigued me. By the way I like the ZR1 wheels

dunno how it handles with 255 on the front. I've only ever had the 275s on. I might put the 255s on tomorrow and try provided the roads stay clean. if the dark Zr1 rims where polished aluminum, I think it would look incredible. the silver makes the green look greener.

My 86 has the 275's up front with 315's in the rear on chrome A-molds
I think those are the best wheels GM ever put on a C4. Go with A-molds!

IMO, the sawtooth wheels are one of the nicest stock styles ever to come out. The problem is that they do look "stock" if you're trying to dress up your Vette. But I don't want to dump a ton of money into new wheels and then look just like everybody else. Being old school, I like "shiny" wheels....either chromed or polished. I'm still looking for some that I really like but that may be a long search. I don't think there's anything really "different" out there unless you include some of the garish painted wheels you see now and then. To each his own of course but they're not for me. I guess you just end up doing what looks good to you.

You've already got the best color C4. Have you considered this look?

Mr. Peabody, mine is black, but as far as actual "colors" go, the green is my favorite....especially with "shiny" wheels.............

Default Like the chrome with a black or polo green car

The contrast is great and the chrome is easy to keep clean.

chrome might be a little too much jewelry for my taste but polished aluminum might be the ticket!!!

I agree with you that the polished aluminum is the nicest look but do keep in mind that you have to repolish them periodically.

So if you don't mind that extra bit of work you can have the best look

Polishing, cleaning, repairing.... all part "recreation" vehicle fun that's over 20 yrs old. I figure if I get sick of it , I can always easily chrome them later but its NOT easy to go the other way and REMOVE the chrome later.

I have C6 Split Spoke wheels on my 1994 and changed the Sawblades for the same wheels on my 1993 recently. The 1994 has 275's on the front and 285 on the rear while the 1993 has the stock 255's front and 285's on the rear......The 1994 does feel heavy at all to me.
