Default Oil Fill Cap???

Anyone know were I can get a factory oil fill cap for and 85? It's the 1/4 turn style. All I've been able to find are the ugly metal one's. I'm assuming they come from the factory with a plastic cap (or a plastic covered).

Or anyone know the GM part Number?

I didn't think this thing would be that hard to find.

Be careful of the replacement original syle ones you can order from mail order places. They may look the same and fit the same, but have the wrong wording printed on the cap. I found out the hard way.

I'm not realy concerned about the wording as long as it doesn't say chevy truck or ford on it. If it's got the wrong oil spec on it that's fine with me.

I found a picture of what i'm looking for.

Yes, that's the correct one. The replacements I spoke about do have the wrong oil specs on them. I've never seen a new replacement with the correct markings.

The OE/GM was 14094763 BUT everyone changes that number to what you have currently and what's been linked to.

A Stant cap that will fit is a 10115 BUT it has an oil spec of 15W40 on it for a diesel engine. I'm quite sure it could be washed off.

STANT 10115 OR a GATES 31273

I bought a replacement but the new one has a different orientation than the original. The new one reads "sideways" -- 90° from what the original one reads (the "top" is at 9:00 vs. 12:00 for the original). It's swaged together that way and there is no way to change it.

Perfect! The Stant one will work and I bet a little brake clean will fix the oil spec.

Thanks everyone for the help.

I remembered this thread, because someone over on the C4 parts forum did a WTB, and I ran across this - http://parts.nalleygmc.com/products/.../14094763.html - looks like the 14094763 part number is still available from GM. I do however think the wording on the cap changed between the 85 and 86 model years - ??? the 763 part number covers the 85 model year - I used that part on my 85, but the wording is different per the 85 pic within this thread.
