I wondered why one of my wiper arms was not wiping anything from the windshield. Turns out the spring had slipped off somehow. I tried to put it back on but it has too much tension. Does anyone know how to put it back together? Thanks for you welcome response.
Could you guys make that public? I accidentally pulled the wiper arm up too much when replacing wipers and my spring popped off. I've tried to fix it to no avail and I've just been putting Rain-x on...
I would think it would be easier to do if it was off the car. That way the hinge could be closed up more than it would be if it was still on the car, and you wouldn't have to stretch the spring so far.
Remove wiper arm from rotor.
get a zip tie the same size as that tiny metal clip.
Put the tiny metal clip in place and slide the zip tie below it to hold it in place while you set the spring.
Now time to set the spring.
put weight directly where the spring connects to the tiny metal clip to prevent the blade from sliding.
Get a slotted screwdriver with a head small enough to fit through the hole the other end of the spring goes to.
hook the spring onto the shaft of the screwdriver then put the slotted tip in thr hole, gently but firmly pull the screwdriver towards you and watch it just spring back into place.
