the first wave ever
anyone know of any documentaion/stories about how the wave got started. I imagine it was two guys at the factory testing out the first two 53's in the parking lot.....

I wouldn't swear to this, but I think the origin of the wave came from motorcycle owners. I remember reading somewhere in the far distant past that this was done by MC owners, picked up by the British sports cars drivers, and eventually spilled over into the Vette community. It was just a way of acknowledging other Vettes on the road.

first heard of the vette wave in the late 60's. a friend of mine's older cousin (we weren't driving age yet) had a C2 and my friend told me about other vettes waving when he cruised with his cousin. anyone heard/experienced before that?

As you may know the first "Corvettes" were very fast sailing ships. The "Wave" was probably a sailing thing! Just my guess, I don't have anything to back me up.
