Engine Pinging
I posted a couple months ago about an intermittent kocking/pinging noise in my motor at idle. My mechanic tightened the lifters and changed the rocker arms and it still has the tick. They don't know what it is. And I don't think it is the injectors because it sounds like it is a little lower.
It has had this noise since I bought it 2 years ago and doesn't seem to be anything major (so far) so I have been just living with the ticking but it is annoying.
Would it hurt to run a thicker oil to help hide the noise a little? I may even consider using some kind of additive to cover it up a little. Is this a bad idea? The car is stock with about 110k miles and I use it as a daily driver.
