My 95 shifter console plate is looking a little tired with some scratches and one large area on the passenger side where the finish is worn away. I know replacements are available for about $149.95 but can I just remove the piece and refinish it to match the rest of the black trim? I would be interested if anyone has done this and what products you recommend.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I remover all the vents, disassembled them, console stereo face place and shifter panels degrease well and sprayed with Plastidip. Then I did the same with the worn door panel plastic trim pieces.
I redid my radio bezel when I put a double din radio in. I used SEM products. Cleaner, colorcoat, adhesion promoter and low lustre clear. With the center console youre going to have to source decals for the windows and mirror.

Did you spray the plastidip directly over the factory coating?
After using plastidip on other things previously, I don't think I would use it on my console. I feel it would scrape off too easily, and just looks rougher than the factory finish. I too would recommend SEM products, low gloss/satin clearcoat
