Default '85 Stalling out..

I've replaced the IAC, TPS (set at .55). CEL comes on when it dies, but scanner says no codes. I've redone runner gaskets, throttle body gaskets and there should be no vacuum leaks around that area.

Could the fuel filter do this..?
Any ideas?

What are you using to scan it? There should be codes. What is the vacuum at idle?

OBD1 scanner with runtime diagnostics.

23 PSI at idle.

Also have changed PCV valve.

Do a minimum idle adjustment:

Did the minimum idle adjustment. Couldn't get it to 450 because it kept stalling out.. but set the idle to 500. Turned off, reconnected IAC and it died after it turned on. Went to redo TPS as it was at .57 and top bolt head snapped off. Well.. looks like I'm buying some new bolts here.

Hi

Firstly check your ignition leads, spark plugs are all good.

Check your IAC (idle air controller) is not loose, check the square plug at the passenger side of engine below the TPS.
If it is loose remove the valve and set the distance from tip of the spindle to where the spindle comes out of the valve, it should be set to 28mm before refitting to throttle body or you can damage it.

Check your EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation valve)
If it is not closing properly the engine will stall at idle, unfortunately you need to remove one of the runners and the plenum.
You can check it by applying vacuum and the egr valve should move up and come back down when vacuum is released.

Once confirmed it jams and does not close fully or freely replace the EGR valve, the next thing would be to check the IAC (idle air controller) stepper motor if it is seizing.

Of course if the EGR or IAC valve was faulty you will need to do the base idle setting again.
Good luck

IAC and TPS are both new and functional. My car has never been able to idle at 450rpms. I don't understand how that's even possible. It idles "lopey" around 600-800 normally. But bogs down and dies sometimes. Anywase, I'll check the EGR. Is it too much of a hassle to just delete it out if it's not functional?
