I believe you have the updated dash. It would be a double din dash. I would get a single din radio and a din sized pocket. I got a pocket from Metra that holds CD cases and fills the space nicely. :yesnod:
Right, it looks too small to be a DIN 1/2.. I'm thinking of trying out the Alpine CDA-D857 or Clarion DMX-5555y, any experience ???
I do not like the adapter plates, like to fill up the place so it looks more or less standard..
Well, I used to install radios for a living. Two things to know. First, the double din radios look funny. They have big ***** and LCD screens and look like those joke telephones with the 2" numbers to me. Also, for the same level of features they cost much more than their din counterparts. And if you ever want to get rid of it and sell it there is very few cars that can use it so it will be difficult to sell. By using the pocket, it doesn't leave a large empty area there and it looks like it belongs. Many cars do this and fill the extra space with pockets, pull out cup holders, tape holders, etc. straight from the factory.
Second, If you install any radio, remember, you will also need to replace the speakers and remove the amps if you have a bose system. These are not compatable with any aftermarket radios. They run on different electrical current ratings than the industry standard. You can buy a converter but they cost $50 in the US and add to the sound distortion. I say its spending good money on bad. I'd just replace the crappy paper bose speakers with good quality aftermarket speakers. Hope this helps. :flag :smash:
It's a 1 1/2 DIN. The Pioneer DEH-47DH GM/Chrysler-Fit CD Player, or the Pioneer DEH-77DH GM/Chrysler-Fit CD Player will do very nicely. :yesnod: http://www.millionbuy.com has the Pioneer DEH-47DH GM/Chrysler-Fit CD Player for $199.99, the cheapest I've seen anywhere.
For speakers, try MBQuart, Infinity, or Kicker. Good luck.
and they list >100 CD receivers that are supposed to fit. I had to install a DIN size in my DIN 1.5 for my Impala SS. The kits that are supposed to adapt the system to my dash sucked so I just made my own brackets and face plate. Took a little time, but looks much better. The GM DIN 1.5 isn't really industry standard, so make it custom or let it be ugly.
I'm gettting ready to pull the Bose system and install a new system myself.
Yeah right, supposed to fit.
I'm still curious about the 1 1/2 din stuff though. The Pioner DEH-P47DL looks ok to me.
The problem is that up here in Finland the price is so high in comparisation with th US. :cry
Ouch, that's not a nice comment (even if you probably are right, sort of).
Been there, done that but, nope.
Things are more expensive here, but i'll stick with Europe anytime.
Sorry guys  :seeya
