Cassette player not working

So I bought a tape-ipod adapter online for a few bucks. I tried it in my car last week, and it worked great. Today i go and try it, it goes in, but I can't hear the music. Sometimes I can hear very very faint music. Why isn't it working? Do I have to push some button? I put it in my dads car and it works fine.

I have a 1984 corvette.

Does the radio need to be tuned to a particular station? Maybe it is just off of the correct one. Also, have you tried any actual cassettes to see if they play properly?

have you checked the volume adj on the ipod?

Yes, and now my radio and clock arent even comming on at all, not sure what the problem is, i think its somthing electrical, this happened last year but it just came back on by itself after a while
