89 Vette will not start
I recently picked up a 89 corvette automatic. It was driving just fine for about a week, although it turned over for about 10 seconds before it would start. I was on my way to work, stopped at a gas station and the car would not start. I had to get it towed home.
We found that the starter is turning over, the spark plugs are sparking and fuel is getting to the injector chambers but the spark plugs are not getting fuel, they are bone dry.
I suspect VATS has something to do with but from what I understand VATS is also supposed to shut off the starter but my starter is working fine. Is there something i'm missing or could it be VATS?
A noid light will tell you if the injectors are pulsing. You need the ignition signal from the ignition module too. The ECM uses it to synchronize the pulsing of the injectors to the rotation of the engine. You can have your ignition module tested at most chain auto parts stores. Make sure there is thermal grease (not dielectric) under it.
