I put a stage 2 Hypertech chip in my 1985 Corvette, It made the car run cool which was good. The car idled really well. The bad part waqs when I would get on it the engine would ping. I had the right thermostat and used super unleaded gas. I took the chip out and returned it sadly. With the original chip the car idles up and down in an intermittent on and off way. It is super annoying and is worse when the car is running hotter. Any suggestions how to fix it? Thanks

Disconnect the battery for 10 seconds and try again.
Check TPS and IAC settings. Then check for vacuum leaks. Are you getting any computer codes?
Years ago I put in one of those chips and fought the ping for a couple of years in my 85. I finally had the car up to Tom Wong in Vancouver Washington and he dyno tuned the car. He did a base line first using the chip that was in there. Turned out that the chip was advancing the distributor up to 43 (Tom seldom advances beyond 34) and at the same time it was reducing the fuel instead of adding fuel. That was the PING. His custom chip added more power to the car and better gas mileage.
