Finishing Touches On Restoration
After working my way from the inside out over the last 2 years, starting with mechanicals, interior/weatherstripping and finishing with body and paint. I posted pics just after the exterior work but they put a C6 nose badge (how politically incorrect was that) and the rear emblem was broken. Now I've got the correct ones. Also replaced my cracked shift **** with a nice leather one.

Did tons this past weekend; on my own -
Finished the new suspension bushing install
New ball joints
Offset LCA bushings from VBP
New shocks (because shocks that you can pump like a water gun are pretty worthless)
New steering rack (I don't think fluid is supposed to look like silver glitter)
New power steering pump,
Removed glasspacks as car is still earily quiet (re-installed exhaust)
New frozen rotors
New carbotech pads,
Changed all the fluids
Almost ready for VIR Chump in Aug

Put the center emblems on my new to me wheels. Bought a set of five spokes off of a 2000 corvette. They guy I bought em from kept the original centers and I got the plain centers.
The emblems are for early C4 and mine is a 95, but these were the best I could find. Not any worse than the stock C5 centers! Also put a nice used steering wheel from a 96. Mine was toast. The leather was shot shot shot.

Started installing new carpet from Rock Auto I'm changing my 96 CE interior from light gray (looks more like beige now) to black. Just the middle rear piece laid in for now. Nothing attached yet. I still want to add a bit more sound deadening before mounting the carpet. Hopefully this weekend I'll finish the rear carpet. Pics coming this weekend.

Oil changed/serviced. I'm changing the full synthetic Mibil1 each 5k miles so far.
Replaced the melted back-up light connector body. It had come loose from the switch and dropped onto the exhaust.

I got out the cleaning supplies and spent the last 3 hours mostly cleaning my ECM.
It turned out pretty good considering it hadn't been cleaned in the 15 years that I've owned the car.

I've been standing on my head, looking up under the dash with a multimeter in my hand.
I've tested everything in the cruise control system, and the trouble is pointing at the brain box. Can't ohms-check that..
After a long laundry list of things I've fixed, I'm now down to an antenna mast, rear defroster and this damn cruise control.

Had the back end up in the air to see if a worn something was causing the excessive tread wear I've had, especially the outside of the right rear tire - previously had replaced the factory bushings in the "dog bone" links with poly, had a full set of poly bushings ready to replace whatever else was worn (137k miles on the car now). Discovered while comparing the car to the service manual that a previous owner had replaced the stock chamber struts with VBP poly adjustable units - so bushing wear wasn't the problem. Also found the tie rod nuts weren't properly torqued (like I had previously found all front tie rod ends and ball joints), and after torquing them down, the left tie rod end is worn out. Oh, the left spring bolt also didn't have a cotter pin in the nut. Put the poly spring bolt bushings in from the kit while I was under there, now I need to get the tie rod ends replaced and get it properly aligned. But, I'm out of town on business now, so that'll have to wait until I get back home.

Drifting
Well My oil pressure gauge started going haywire by burying out at over 80 psi. So I spent the morning removing the old one and installing the new one. I removed the whole mounting system including the tube for the low pressure switch and the actual piece that screws into the manifold. I put on new tape and reinstalled all the pcs along with a new pressure switch. I then took the car for a ride to make sure all is well and the gauge was working correctly. So this morning I drive to work and the gauge goes up to about 65psi cold which is normal. Then once warmed driving down the road it showed about 40-43 at about 1300 rpms and it would go up if I was to down shift. I get to work at idle its reading about maybe 10 psi . The new pressure switch has got to be a piece of garbage I assume. It always read about 22 at idle with the old switch when it was working correctly. The engine is making no noise and there is plenty of oil in the engine. I guess I can either try another switch or install a mechanically gauge.

You may want to confirm that with a second, external gauge. You could possibly have a problem with a pressure spring sticking in the oil pump..
