When I bought my 86 last summer in N.M., driving it home on the interstate there was a kid in a Honda or Toyota (can't tell most of them apart) that just had to pass me on the interstate. He'd then slow down so I'd pass him and after another mile or so would come flying by again. This went on 3 or 4 times, all the while I left it in cruise control. He had the biggest grin apparently because he passed a Vette with his old POS, guess it made his day.

This reminds me of the one and only time I was impressed by a Mustang. It was a "bad" looking Mustang with a racing stripe down the center and a scoop on the hood. I didn't notice whether it was a GT or a Shelby or what, but I'm sure he had something under the hood. But he didn't show it off. He had the car in cruise control and just maintained his moderate speed while everyone passed him. It was an impressive display of ***** or whatever.
These are great stories, and thanks to all that are posting them! My experience is with two young bucks that were driving go fast crotch rocket cycles along side of my yellow 91 coupe. They kept looking over at me, putting their bikes up on the back wheels and trying to get me to race. They were actually ahead of me when they did this. Not even watching where they were going. I didn't bite on that one.
I am thinking of making a small sign that I can hold up that says, "so you really want to race an old man in a 24 year old car, Really?"
Maybe, they were irritated that you were driving to slow?...
I've noticed, a lot of Corvette owners are older men and just cruise in their Vettes...
I am one of those old guys. I had my days of drag racing yrs ago. Now I just enjoy the ride. I laugh at all the idiots that blow by trying to suck
me into a race. I am not interested.... My 20 yr old vet (94 coupe, red in and out) is looking like the day it came off the show room floor. All
original and in perfect condition......LOL...
