I have an 87 and on top of the brake master cylinder there is a 2 pin connector for wires, I have looked all around that side of the car and do not see any loose wires, does something go there? thanks
the switch on the master cyl is a warning switch that indicates if you loose pressure on one side of the brakeing system. unless someone cut it out it should be there. I have seen people remove it because that was the only way they could getr the light off. Would have been better to fix the problem in my mind
Thanks, must have been cut out, no loose wires anywhere near that location, but there is a little white box with 4 white wires that has been spliced into the wireing harness just below the master cylinder, zipped tied to the inner fender, have no idea what it is.
That is a very hard to find connector. It's not made anymore and is pricey to replace. (AC DELCO PT441) Hopefully you will find your connector still in place.
Here's a picture of mine from my '84, before I replaced it.
If you need one a pigtail, this is where I purchased mine.
The single black wire pops out of the harness near the plastic steering wheel cover. It's part of the wires that connect to the cooling fan relay attached to the driver's side inner fender.
Thank you, that's a really good picture, I can see what and where to look, and I guess the little white box on the inner fender is the relay for the fan, I believe that may be another problem, the fans don't work , I know the front one does not work, it is disconnected, had to order a new connector, old one looks kinda burnt. thanks
The previous owner on my '84 cut the wires and tucked them away. Instead of fixing the cooling fan relay they opted for a manual toggle switch to turn on the fans. I put everything back to stock and the fans turn on as they should at the proper temp.
Odd thing was it was a simple fix and all the time and trouble they went to hacking up the wires and hooking up a toggle switch was idiotic. It also took me a while to figure out their mess.
