To begin with you should ALWAYS give us the year of your car. It makes a difference. Older L98 had standard cam, newer had roller cams.

You will get more out of your engine if you have a roller cam. But anytime you change the came from stock to some more radical, you will need a custom chip.

I really liked the Lingenfelter 74211 in my ZZ4 roller block. Idle very nice but when you got on it...she kicked in about 2000 RPM and kicked ***.

The 7411 has a live of over 534. Head work and springs is always good. Or spring for a set of good aftermarket heads like AFR or others.

You will need to have someone burn you a new chip for he cam. Or mail order.

Comp Cam 08-501-8 is a mild upgrade cam. Improve the air intake as well as the exhaust. Add roller rocker arms, use a Hypertech coil and bump up to 24lb Bosch injectors with 8mm wires. No tune necessary. My car idles at 700 rpm's and in gear is 600 rpm's. Never any changes perfect running engine. You could go 08-502-8 and 1.6 roller rocker arms but I have no experience with this cam.

...and do I have to get work done on the heads for springs
That depends upon the cam choice. Higher lift requires more spring tension as well as assurance that you do not get spring coiol bind at max lift.
Comp Cams has very good tutorial on this subject and very easy to comprehend.

If you do need head work it's time to get the heads ported with larger performance valves.

Do you think this cam would work well with a 90 tpi L98 stock intake with 1.5 roller rockers has long tube headers catless magnaflow exhaust and runs 13.1 at 106 in the quarter right now with the wrong converter installing an 2400 stall converter this winter and has 3.07 rear gears

Does this quarter-mile run downhill, by any chance?
