Default Door lock question

Ok, so with my passive locks on, both doors lock & unlock like they should. (new battery in the remote)

I don't really like the car constantly locking and unlocking as I walk past it so I prefer to turn off the passive syst. But get this.. with the sys off I push the lock button on the remote and only the passanger side unlocks!

Is there a setting or maybe some kind of mechanical issue?

Any help is appreciated.

That is how it works, you can get details in your owners manual. The system is not designed to lock/unlock manually. It only works in the passive mode. The exceptions are, pushing the hatch button will unlock the hatch (if you have a coupe), and pushing the door button will unlock the pass. door. The reason for this is you can set the system to unlock both doors (when active in passive mode) or only the drivers door. This gives you a way to unlock the passengers door should you need to, it is not intended to allow you to unlock both doors manually. (If it was intended to work manually, it would have to have unlock and lock buttons, not just a "door" button).

As Mark explained, there is nothing wrong with your system.
Seems to be working as the factory designed.
The "door" button will never unlock the drivers door, nor will it lock either door.

Nothing can be programmed into the factory system to change this functionality, it is just the way the factory system is.

Thanks Guys, I must say... I'd not have guessed this was intentional and correct. Well.. I'm 3 for 3 now. Save the wave, shaking my remote, & unlocking only my pass door are all "normal".

I wonder what would happen if I shook the remote, waved, and pushed the button all at the same time?

I was able to DL a 95 owners manual.

Thanks again
