Has anyone painted or dyed their leather steering wheel? I have mine out of the car and want to bring it back to looking good somehow. Any hints or recommendations would be appreciated.

I would not mess around with it. Do a search for Chuck Pelton here on the Forum. I have seen his work on display at Corvettes at Carlisle and he rebuilds these wheels to look as new.

Someone just did it recently and was quite happy and I see no reason why you couldn't make yourself happy. Chuck's work is certainly 1st class but if this is for "driver class" satisfaction I see no reason to spring for the restoration.
Here's the thread and it's a good read if your going to attempt or would like to

my wheel was awfull when I bought my '87. I purchased the Leather Wrap and stiched it on, it looks killer good! Then I used Black Shoe Polish on the arms and horn. Buffed it out and let it dry over night. It came out great and it was very cheap. Never do I get black on my hands.
I got the wrap off a guy from CraigsList for $20, new and in the package.
