Default Texas Heat Wave

Im not sure how many of you all out there now about this tiny car show out in the hills of Austin Tx. I went this weekend and it was a blast, not many corvettes, but lots of cars, probably about 1200 entered in the show. There was a really nice 85 custom vette that I fell in love with and tons of others. I was wondering if anyone else out there has heard of or even went to this show?

ya your right, it was a giant show but it was alot of fun. Next year, hopefully ill have my car lookin good enough to enter it. Its 40$ to enter a car and its no big deal really. You just park out in the parking lot in an enmpt spot next to the other 1500 cars. Some people entered in believe it or not, just to park inside, have a place to sit, and a spot for their ice chest. Its a 3 day event and is probably gonna be even bigger next year.

Its next year around this time, we wont find out for several more months on the location, or dates. It would be nice to get a little group of corvette guys to enter with me, could get a row goin, be a nice little attraction in the show.

Tom, you should head over to Round Rock in August for "Corvettes at the Diamond" Its a Corvette only show held at the Round Rock. It used to be called Austin Corvette day but they had to change locations as it out grew the old facility. It is sponsered by the local Corvette club "Lonhgorn Corvette Club" for more details check out the flier... Corvettes at the Diamond

Guy's be carefull if you go to round rock. My sig may say san marcos but I was born and raised there. The local PD takes times like this (heat wave and corvettes at the diamond) to bust everyone for not haveing a front license plate. Last year at the heat wave they were standing at the exit gates stopping everyone (even contestants) for not having a front plate and giving them tickets. The local car community got pretty pissed but I bet they do it again. Just be carefull and have a front plate just those couple of days if you go. Just trying to help. GF's dad used to work at that PD so take my word for what it's worth.

I am a member of the sponsoring club, Longhorn Corvette Club, and we have gone to great measure to avoid this situation. We have invited the various local law enforcement agencies to have a space to display and do PR. It is my understanding that we have a commitment from Round Rock Police Department and DPS to particiapte.

Round Rock PD asked DPS to help with traffic control if they needed it. DPS took it upon themselves to issue the citations. Once RRPD heard about what was going on they asked, might be a little stronger, to leave the area. The officers that did the ticketing were scolded for the large amounts of bad press they got over this.

I live in Round Rock, and drive around town regularly and have never been stopped nor ticketed for no front plate by RRPD. I have been ticketed by DPS :cuss .

We woudl like to see everyone that does not have any conflicting events attend the show.

Are you wanting explination on the New Brauns. show or the licence plate issue in RR?

I do believe the show is the 12th of september though but I will check to verify the date. Last I heard it was a twenty dollar entry fee and prizes will be awarded. It is however a corvette ONLY show. for more info e-mail Joyce Cruze as he is the one putting everything together. Here is his e-mail Joyce Cruz <jcruz12@satx.rr.com> .
