You dont say what year the car is.......have you checked the fuse.....also on my 1991, there are 2 other connections under the dash to enable or disable the bag. I would be VERY careful in going much further though, as I understand the bag going off is quite a violent event, and you don't want to be in the wrong place if it does. Hope this helps. :)
