Or go the 96 LT4 route and paint it, Who would know except your ncrs judge you can't do that with the ZR-1. You can have your own GS clone AND an early ZR1 for the price of a GS today I know what I'd rather have
you can clone the colors but what about the vin. GS vin's run 1 to 1000.

True, but for years, the same logic used on GS's, were used on 78 pace cars and 82 col eds. #1s to 3s may be holding, but there has been decline on GS's as a group. Museum cars may continue, but average corvettes are declining as baby boomers age, and following generations don't have the same interests, and tend to see autos as appliances rather than personality extensions.. Yeah there are exceptions as some sellers get lucky, but overall non exceptional examples are in decline for all generations of vettes (and muscle cars).

whats nuts to me is the price of zr1s has dropped lately and comparable miles you can get a zr1 for around the same money as a gs. I know which id take without a doubt.

I think you are correct, that the pricing on the GSs are increasing or at least have a strong base. There is a good number for sale at any given time to use for price research. My only advice is to buy a red interior if possible; much more desirable and less made. I remember seeing a number of new ones at Carlisle and thinking if I bought one I would choose the black interior and since most buyers thought that way, red is by far the better collectible.

Has anyone seen very clean example go across Mecham, BJ or other auctions for sums that would support the increase in price?

I was lucky enough to find/purchase a 21000 mile all original red gut all original Z51 GS back in February. In my opinion the market value for these cars is steady at best. I have watched pretty much every GS that has been listed for sale over the last year and they only seem to sell if the seller is truly motivated. It does not seem to me that anyone (other than the person with questionable brains that paid 140K for the 11 mile vert) is tripping over themselves to ****** up available cars. A great barometer for me is my cars exact twin that has been listed for sale on the registry at 32K for months. It probably does not help that it is in Canada, but if someone really wanted it that should not be that big of a deal.

I don't mind disclosing that I paid $26000 for mine which is what I believe to be what the cars actual value is. It will be interesting to see what the next 10 years+ holds.

Here she is arriving on the transport

The problem with that $140 car is you can never drive it. Once that car has any miles on it it will become a $30,000 car, or less. Too bad to waste a car like that.
