Default Data Sheet

Does anyone know where you can obtain a new or reproduction data sheet that was on the glove box door? The NCM does not list this as available, although I have sent a e-mail requesting it.

Just went through NCRS judging and the build sheet or window sticker are not acceptable to confirm options/equipment.

Thanks,

The Corvette Museum thinks I'm talking about a label that says “Service Parts Identification”

I'm accustom to a stamped metal data plate. Is the “Service Parts Identification” label what I'm looking for?

You are looking for a SPID label that would have been on the console door for MY '89. There's no duplicating it without a digital photo of the old with a legible VIN. Can it be replicated? I would think so. The correct font gave me fits and I didn't actually need one so I didn't pursue it any further for the fellow who had asked. He was satisfied with what I had compiled for him for his '85 or '86 I believe.

Here is a SPID label for an '84 and the '89 is similar but NOT the same. It's content can be compiled from the build sheet information. The ideal way to start to duplicate one would be to know the options of yours, obtain a couple of snapshots of an '89 with similar equipment and then compile it. The borders for years and the part number on the label is different for various years. I believe I'm talented enough to compile it in the proper sequences.

I don't recall the font of the '89 SPID.

Snapshots of an '89 and the actual accurate dimensions of the label would be most helpful.

Great, that is exactly what I needed to know. I have my build sheet and window sticker for the codes and the Corvette Museum staff gave me a link to the person that does this in the correct form... Thanks again for confirming the info.

Here is what she sent me:

If you are talking about the “Service Parts Identification” label, these can be reproduced through “ECSVIN” that is licensed by GM to reproduce these and other labels. You can go to their website at www.ecsvin.com to view samples and for further information.

Good luck.

Thank you for your inquiry and your support of the National Corvette Museum.

Yes they'll do it from a "correct digital image" of the ORIGINAL. They will NOT construct one for you. Many have asked previously and been told NO. Have they changed their policy? I seriously doubt it.

I just called them. I don't want them to construct one, I want the correct one. My car is loaded and just want the right info. They cannot make a new one unless you have the old one... That's crap... I need a new one BECAUSE I don't have the old one... They can't use build sheet data to make up a replacement.

This is the one I constructed for the '85 for a fellow who had none. Sized to the correct dimensions it was pretty damned nice. I can't find an image of the final on an older hard-drive that I've got but this was one of the intermediate revisions that I recovered from an old email.

Printed with a very thin acetate overlay I believe it would do well or maybe done at a professional printer after construction was thought quality. I would think that the fact it's there to be presented is more than half of the battle, I imagine it get's only a cursory glance.

This one was done from build sheet information. It's content was checked with several '85 cars with similar equipment. If someone has a black '85, with a blue top, black interior, manual trans with manual AC and similar seat options this should be a match and I can explain what doesn't match I'm sure.

Damn, that's great. Sounds almost like my '89.
