I am new to the site. I am also new to corvettes. I purchased my 94 locally i am the second owner. The car has 54000 miles on it. Borla exhaust, a procharger, and a few other goodies It is an lt1.
I do have a problem with the main fan not kicking on but i had already figured out its the sensor unit above the water pump that is bad. I unplug the unit and the fan kicks on.
I also have a problem with the mixer valve or something on the inside as the unit never will switch air flow. It is stuck on floor and defrost which sucks running the ac as it makes the window condensate
Any ideas suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for the warm welcome...
thank you sir 1994 though lol.. when i pull the wires off the sensor for the water temp (the one on the frt of the motor just under the intake) the fans kick on no problem. So i assume it is a bad sensor. though i wonder which gage is more accurate on my dash as the needle gauage reads different then the digital.
It is generally known that the digital temp gauge is more accurate. The analog gauge does not have a linear scale -- in the upper end of the scale, the analog gauge indicates temps much higher than are present and causes panic to those not aware. Use the digital temp gauge.
For the A/C issue, the 96's have a problem with the vacuum tubes at the control unit under the dash collapsing on themselves and preventing the selection of vents (always blows defrost and on the floor but not the front vents usually). The design was faulty in the 96's but I haven't heard of any issues with that on 94's. May be something to check though.
ViperC4 is it possibly the vacuum check valve that is bad? Or one of the vacuum hose going to or from it? I had that problem with my 89' when I first got it and it is something that happens on many cars.
Thanks for the warm welcome!!! I also appreciate the ideas for the ac/vent problem...i will check it this evening. I am also switching out that temp unit tonight just to play it safer then sorry
The car runs like a beast with the procharger on it. It lays you back in your seat like crazy back end lights right up and slides all over the place! It will break lose in 3 gears.
