OK so I'm just going to get right to the point, I know a lot about cars and love working on them, I'm looking to buy a 1990 C4 with the z51 package, I've only seen pictures and I have a list of things to check when I purchase it. But it looks immaculate, no real damages. and has a list of new parts such as a upgraded performance clutch.
My question is, is $5000 too cheap? is a $5000 corvette going to be a piece of junk? I really want to work on it and modify it but I dont want to get something thats going to need thousands of dollars before I put 1k miles on it. I'm planning on driving it a lot.
also $5000 is my entire budget, so once I buy it I wont have any money to put into it for a few months. If it has no leaks, maybe 110k miles, will it be worth spending my savings on?
... so once I buy it I wont have any money to put into it for a few months.
It's a plus it checks out ok and has good service records but it's not unusual for a 24 year old car with 100k miles to have some issues from time to time. If the car is clean, $5k sounds like a bargain indeed.
Preston, I have a 90 coupe and it's a great car. $5000 is a very good price if it is as clean as you say it is. Check as to when the plugs and wires were changed. If it has newer injectors, then that's a real plus. The L98 engine is very reliable and easy to work on. Are all the accessories working-AC, heat, defroster, head lights fully opening, tires etc. Carefully check the condition of all the weather seals. Good luck.
