Hi guys, 95 stock lt1 with magnaflow mufflers. Wanting more deep sound out of exhaust. local muffler shop has a set of flowmaster take offs that they will sell and mount for $200. What do you think?
I have them on my 89 and everybody thinks it sounds cool, it is just a weekend car though and I wouldn't want it that loud constantly as a driver , but thats just me.
Do muffler eliminators drone as bad as most after mkt mufflers do or do they put the sound out the back? I have Magnaflow mufflers and they should be called MagnaDrones because it's horrendous at highway cruise.

Yes, you will have drone with eliminators.
Some will tell you that you won't, but there is no denying that it is there in the 1500-1800 rpm range under a light load.
No mufflers on my LT4, and wife does not care for the interior drone at times.
It does not bother me at all though, but I would never tell someone it isn't there.

Taking out the rear mufflers was my very first mod to my LT4. I experienced the very same drone/resonance that Rolla described. My solution was to replace the resonator with one of these...

I put eliminators on my '94 6 speed and liked it. It did not bother me either.
Under any load they get louder. Even part throttle like up a hill on the highway. For me, I liked the sound even with a 100 mile per day commute (mostly highway) I really didn't notice it much on the highway with the cruise on, but I like listening to the motor.
