Default D44 shipping weight?

Anyone know the shipping weight of a D44 w/batwing? I'm looking at getting one shipped and need to figure out the cost.

Are you shipping OR receiving?

Use 2 boxes and the differential will go out at 65 - 70# packaged well.

For the cover:

Weight isn't your issue with the shipping, the dimensions are going to be the determining factor on the shipping cost and how well it's packaged. It will take a box 45 X 12 X 8 to package it well enough for shipping. The part is maybe 14# MAX but it needs to be packaged well. I didn't weigh one but I believe that's pretty accurate. Weight won't change it. Use any weight from 14 - 20 # and those dimensions and I don't believe the shipping quote would change. Size matters!

I've used totes for differentials lately a couple times and they've worked well. You need to watch the packaging on them, a drop will knock a mounting ear from one very easily. I use one tote inside another with cardboard as the cushioning material with about a 2" cushion under the ring gear with the differential standing pinion up. You can bolt a cut down lid of a tote to the pinion flange to keep it upright in the tote and bolt the top lid to the outer tote.

Are you converting your to 6-speed?

These Dana 44 are hot tickets. I know many hot rodders looking for those, and many say "if you know of anyone selling one of those send him my way". The Dana 44 is one of those things people will pay for it.

No, but I'm going to do the Big Doggie mod and run 315's in the back. The stock D36 already has 150+K on it, so it's just a matter of time before it fails - especially now that it's making a lot more power than it did stock.

I'm not in a rush to do it, and may just do it over the winter but I'm actively looking for a D44 now.

My 95 is a D36, I run 295/35/18s, and I'm having no issues with it.
