Default AC not working

What's different in a car w/Climate Control versus standard AC?

Anyone?

I know the controllers are different. (I cleaned the buttons on mine and now everything works perfectly)

I have a 96 with climate control. The operational differences are basically automated features. You can set a desired temperature degree of comfort. he maual systms are less accurate where there is adjustment to select the coolness. More analog than digital. Overall I am one who lives in Arizona and all I really need is for the interior to get cool fast. The climate control will keep you comfortable on long drives because once you reach a preset temperature it maintains that temprature. Beyond that, the A/c system inthe car is the same for both. The climate control works the same for heat as well as cooling.

I recently worked through an issue with my "95, which has electronic climate control. It turned out the damper door that blends hot/ac air was inop. To check for this condition, remove the diode pack thingy from the top of the evaporator plenum (held in place by two screws). It is mounted on the firewall, on the passenger side of the engine compartment, just inboard of the coolant pressure tank. Look inside. The blener door can be seen. The ac evaperator is mounted toward the center of the dash, the heater core toward the right side of the car.
The damper door swings between these two cores to determine how much hot and cold air are mixed to achieve the desired temp. Mine was not working. .stuck in a position that blocked air from going through ac evaporator. Set your temp to lowest setting and look to see if this door moves (with car running, ac on). This whole visual test should tale less than 5 minutes.
On the 1995 model, there is an electrical temp control actuator mounted below the heater box on the passenger side. Mine was toast. Dorman makes a replacement for about $50. Available at Auto VALUE PARTS STORES.
Other years/models may use vacuum controls or actuator may be mounted on top of the heater box. Hope this helps.
