Default Power door locks question

Hello- I have a 1984 Corvette. I have been working through the multiple small issues, but I am making headway.... My current issue has me a little stumped. I have changed the door switches on the power locks. They began to work. I used them a few times and now they don't work. The driver door is fine. The passenger door switch works but it doesn't unlock the passenger door. It will, however, unlock the driver door. I believe the actuator is not working. I can not find any videos on how to replace the actuator.

Does anyone have a link how to change the actuator? I know how to get to the part. but it looks like it is riveted in.

Thanks

It is riveted and will require being drilled out. Replacement is pretty straight forward and you could replace the rivets with threaded fasteners or once you have it operational drive by an auto body shop and have them swap your threaded fasteners with the appropriate rivets while you wait I'd think.

Do you know that you actually have power to the actuator now? Maybe just soak everything down with a good penetrant, lube all of the pivoting points for the lock and operating rods.

We just completed the degreasing and lubing. The passenger door lock from the outside wasnt hooked up to the rod inside the panel. ..but we found when it is, the door lock cant turn. So we put the panel back together and tried them and the door wont lock unless you slide the lock manually. However. .. you can unlock the driver door with the passenger side lock switch. .therefore, making me conclude that the actuator went out. It is the original in there.

You need to test power and ground before you drop $75 on a lock actuator. Take the door panel off and begin to diagnose properly.

BTW - how did your lever project do?

OP - yes you need to do all the diagnostics before the actuator buy. There's much that can cause the issue that you seem to have. You should be able to unlatch the actuator and if you've got 12V and a good ground the actuator should function. If it does then your situation is the mechanical operation of the door latch or something else. Got 12V and ground present and actuator doesn't work might be time for the buy.
