Well, I've eliminated every rattle in the dash of the 94. The last big annoyance is the squeaky roof. My father has a mint 95 that looks and sounds like it just rolled off of the assembly line. Not a single rattle or squeak, even on the 3 miles of gravel to get to blacktop near their house. He spent some time chasing them, but finally got them eliminated. I'm hoping this ability is hereditary.
Anyway, I ordered some adhesive felt and I am going to apply it to the roof this afternoon. Fingers crossed, I know it can be done.
lol, I think this type of endeavor is a labor of love. I'll let y'all know how it turned out.
I've had my car apart many times. I'm almost ready to pay someone else to do everything because I'm getting sick of it. I had to change my valve seals 3 times, and on the third time I almost paid someone else to do them. Haha.
Maybe you don't "need" a press but it makes getting the old ones out much easier.
That's what I'm worried about. One stubborn bushing, and you are in a "need a press" situation. How long would it take in the driveway, barring any complications?
Same as mine. I even tried Teflon tape (adhesive on one side, Teflon on the other) on the mating surfaces, but same thing. I'm also convinced that the tinted plastic is moving inside the frame causing the sound.
Is there such a thing as "quiet poly bushings"? Everything I've read says they will squeek!

If your glass (actually acrylic) is coming loose from the roof frame, you are about to join the FTC (Flying Top Club)! Not fun!! For the repair procedure that worked for me, search this forum for "Betaseal".
If you can hear squeaks, you need a louder exhaust!
Best answer thus far!
I used a thin coating of vasoline on my top's seals and the squeeks are 95% gone. But on harsh bumps I a rattle at the drivers front corner. That's annoying but otherwise mine are mostly quite and don't leak.
