Okay, here I am again, new issue. My '88 is only shifting into high sometimes. has the 700R trans., I'm told. These cars are new to me so bare with me. Just got through a over heating problem ! I know it's had some work, converter, etc. Installed a small cooler right behind the fan.
Problem seemed to start about the same time as the over heating problem.
Fluid looks dirty so I'm gonna service the trans. but does anyone have any ideas what else I should be checking out ???

How does the shift feel?

When I had the 3-4 clutch go out mine would not shift out of 2nd gear.

 

Shifts feel good. out of first is strong, even when it shifts into third, it feels good, just doesn't shift into third all the time or jumps back into neutral ? Not a trans. guy !
