c4 brakes
looking for answers on brakes,
I have a 1989 c4 6 speed with only 25k original miles on it. I really dont drive the car much but just sold my road racing car so now I want to use this C4 for track days. I plan on starting slow with the build. tires and brakes are first on the list. tires will be 275/40/17 NT01 I really want to use the stock wheels that came on the car as I have 3 sets of them. I like the sound of the c5 brake upgrade but everything I read says they wont work with stock wheels. is it just an offset thing that I could use wheel spacers to correct? making the car wider cant be a bad thing or is it the inside diameter of the wheel it self that will hit the caliper?
if the c5 brakes just don't work with the wheels what can I expect from just putting racing pads on with the stock calipers? the car will most likely never see street use other than to test drive new racing parts.
If the stock brakes are just not enough for road racing track days then selling the wheels will be the next step.
I will also be looking for suspension advice for future adds to the car.
All my racing has been in fully pre paired BMW and Porsche race cars so this vette is a whole new animal and I am hoping to avoid some of the learning curve for setting up the car for track use only. no auto cross or drag racing only road racing is my plan.
