Here's another one: Do not use the steering wheel to pull yourself in or out of the car. You will end up with a floppy steering wheel at the tilt mechanism.

I've got one..
If the exterior door handle stops working because the rod falls off inside the door, After you repair the bits that fell apart, dont yank on the handle like you use to have to...
The door makes this strange crumbling crackling sound.
I was really confused about the parking brake handle until I learned you can stow it after it's set.
Talk about a C4 rookie, eh?
My friend asked if he could take a girl out in my car as his was in pieces. We were giving it the full on treatment. I of course said yes. He is probably a better driver anyway. Ok, so he went to a nice restaurant and got valet parking. He set the parking brake and got out. When he finished his dinner the car was still out front waiting. The Valet's couldn't figure out the brake. They said it was broke.
hahaha
Hey! I have a C4 with the random steering wheel tilt option. I was wondering how to fix it. Has anyone experienced the process of the repair?
I'm pretty good with tools, but for some reason the whole steering column is a scary place to me.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but maybe someone could help me to understand what you have to do. I was thinking about lots of JB Weld and a turkey baster.

Never ceases to amaze me how many ppl don't figure it out. Good idea is to set it firmly enough that the car can't be driven accidentally with it engaged. There have been people that have had their e-brake burned up during an emissions exam by some knucklehead examiner that drove it on the machine with the brake still set.

With the hatch open I hit the door lock switch. Got out and shut the door. Slammed the hatch shut and tripped the alarm.
Could be worse. Bought my 86 last year in N.M. at a car auction (first Vette). Of course no owners manual in it so trying to figure things out along the way on the drive home. About 200 miles into the trip and another 800+ left to go, pulled into a gas station to fill up. While there with the doors open and fueling, I was playing with a few of the ***** including the power locks. Not quite sure what I did but apparently unlocked the door using the regular control and closed the door, setting off the alarm.
No idea how to stop it at that time, finially unhooked the horns till about a month after we got home and obtained an owners manual.
Haven't done that one since

lol not surprised. This is why I don't even touch it when taken anywhere for service and tell them not to. There's always some idiot that either touches my aftermarket vats shutoff switch and ends up shutting off the injectors, or screws with the E brake and can't figure out how to release it no matter where I go and no matter what I tell them beforehand to stay away from. And don't even get me started with the pimple-faced high school dumba55es at the required emissions stop every year that stare in awe at my car....ask if it's "real fast", can't figure out where the hell my gas tank is after I tell them, can't figure out how to lift my hood after I open it for them, leave their nasty *** little fingerprints all over my freshly shined paint and then end up reporting my engine as illegally modified after not knowing what the hell a TB bypass is and what my throttle connectors are for. I end up having to park and then the idiot manager comes out and apologizes and said they made a mistake, I get pissed off, make a formal complaint and watch the little bastard avoid me as I walk out, him thinking I'm gonna beat the crap out of him. This happened twice already, two separate idiots. I keep thinking next time I'll go to a different emissions place to avoid having to go incredible hulk, but I know they'd probably have two more idiots that do the same thing.
Valet parking, common big chain service repair shops and emissions lines are all akin to anything with a drive through window these days. It's almost a natural law you'll be dealing with idiots, atleast one. No matter how idiot proof you make something, the universe just makes a dumber idiot.

Too late. Previous owner was an old guy who did just that. he crushed the centre console lid too.....

Yea, a better plan might be to pick up a copy of the FMS for a detailed breakdown of your steering column. If you have a pre-'92 you won't have an air bag to deal with so taking the column down is not too difficult.
