Default New Dewitts radiator installed

I installed a new Dewitts 1.5"core radiator in my 1989. The radiator I removed appeared to be the original from the looks of it. WHAT a difference!! With the old radiator, I was getting temps of 235 sitting at a long stop light before the fans started bring temps down. Now at a light (today was almost 100) the temp reached 201 sitting at a very long light and dropped quickly to 185 to 195 average where I am running. I replaced the thermostat, cap and lower radiator hose also. Best money I've spent in some time on my vette. Took some skin off in a couple places and bled a little to show I was really working.....

Input much appreciated. I've been looking at replacing the radiator myself (also 89). Dewitts is advertised as a direct replacement. Did you find the fit to be as advertised? Any modifications required?

I have the original larger Dewitts in my 89 and it is indeed a drop in install..The only thing extra that has to go in are the rubber mounts for the larger radiator, and they supply them to you...I also got the Dewitts high speed fan and had my chip set to make the fan come on at 196 degrees, and off at 180 degrees. My 89 with a 383 motor runs consistantly at 180-182 degrees on the open road....These are great radiators.....WW

As WW7 said it was a drop in, no mods required. The radiator was their part number Model: 1129084A for $355.

No modifications required to install, just use the rubber mounts they provide.

I spent $180 delivered to my door for a 2 row all aluminum excellent welds. Sadly made in China. Works excellent and direct fit. The rubber needs cut out with a utility knife. American Eagle brand.

My new single row DeWitt's in my 93.the LT1 is running around 189-190. I also installed the SPAL fans. I have not changed temp settings for fans, but when tested in garage the primary kicked on and off at the factory setting never got hot enough to kick on second fan.

GREAT AMERICAN MADE PRODUCT.

I visitied with Tom DeWitt and since I live in Az our ambient temps are terrible in the summer. 115-120 is NOT uncommon and our pavement temps run @150. My finances are not where I want them to be, however this coming fall I am going to install one of his radiators. Personally I found him to be very affable and generous with his time. You might pay a few bucks more,[COLOR="Red"] but his rads are made in the USA and in his his shop. This means a lot to me cuz if I have a problem, I can call him and he will help.
