Can anyone tell me if the jack used in the C4 generation changed from year to year. I am finding some advertised for a specific year and some advertised for all C4s. I am wondering if there were changes between the early C4s and the later C4s??

A "service jack" from GM for ALL C4's is the same and I believe would have been OE in '93 and later cars. There was catalog notes that mentioned using/changing a label when using this jack on anything '92 or earlier.

Are you looking for just a functional jack or maybe an NCRS spec jack?

What specific year interests you?

I have a jack that I would like to sell in the parts for sale section forum. Before I do that I want to do some research so that the description is correct. I am asking because it does not match the jack that I have with my 86 vert. The part at the top of the jack that goes between the 2 arrows on the rocker is shaped slightly different wider and not as deep as the 86, it connects the rocker different. Two numbers are on the jack, a stamped number 5EO6 1, and number on the label PT NO 14082589.
I purchased it for my 86 but it is not correct, I believe it is for a later model. I don't want to list it and have fellow forum member buy it if it is not correct for their car.

I believe the number on your label is likely 14082889 and that would indicate a service label for '88 - '92. What do the jacking instructions say? Is there a hole in the hex for a specialty handle or is it just the hex? Some jacks had a round hole through the hex for a different style handle.

Post a snapshot of the jack and a close up of the label with the "for sale" post. Let the buyer make the choice. Essentially the jack will do all C4's but it's certainly for '92 or earlier if that's the label ID. The later jacks had a part number actually stamped in the lift arm on top of the jack.

I have a jack from the kids Pontiac Grand Am (about a 97 I think) and I've used that to jack up my 86 before. Worked without a problem for me.
