I'm hearing a constant clicking. I've jacked up the rear & in 1 revolution, I hear 6 clicks. Both wheel bearings are bad (I feel movement), but the clicking seems to be coming from the center of the car (I cant pinpoint until I have a helper here)
Any suggestions on how to diagnose?
UPDATE:
The sound seems (to me) like it's coming from the differential - close to where the driveshaft hooks into it.
When I rotate the driveshaft by hand, there's a tiny bit of play at the u-joint (maybe 1/16 to 1/8"). Is that normal?
Any thoughts?
Driveshaft U-Joints need to be replaced..They will click when going bad and there isn't suppose to be any play in them at all...Do yourself a favor, replace all the U-Joints while you have it in the air, if the half shaft U-joints haven't been replaced yet, nows the time ...WW
Thanks WW. Not looking forward to that. But hey, I bought the thing so I would have something to play with.....
You can get the drive shaft out without removing the C-beam.. I just had to wiggle mine a bit to get it out..Some guys say you have to grind a raised seam on the underside of the car to get the shaft out, but with mine I didn't have to do that..My rear U-joint on the back of the driveshaft was "frozen up" completely and I couldn't move it, I was also getting vibration.....WW
