Hella were top notch before projectors, then came even cleaner and brighter HID's.
I had a C5 which I bought the GM Euro glass lens by Hella. It allows you to order aftermarket replacement bulbs and I bought a set of PIAA white light bulbs. The whole setup worked better than OEM but the pattern and the light quality were sadly lacking compared to my sons VW GTI with factory (read average )HID projectors
HID's can be retrofitted to OEM wiring harness without blowing fuses or damaging wiring.
The light output of HID projectors retrofitted to the OEM housing is as good as it gets for now
