Vette Search Update!
Here's what I've come up with so far. Feel free to comment.
1993 Torch Red Convertible - 43k miles, dealer asking $20k (will offer 17k at most)
Carfax came up very clean, no problems. Weatherstripping is being replaced and some minor cosmetic replacements, other than it was in good shape.
1995 Cherry Black Coupe 64k miles, private seller asking 16,500. Comes with 2 tops and 12 disc CD changer.
1995 dark red coupe 50k miles. private seller asking $18k. Comes with Borla racing exhaust, performance axle, in dash CD/Cass. receiver, and K&N filter system.
I'm leaning towards the middle choice based on descriptions, since the latter 2 I've not seen yet. Besides, it's more in my price range and having a choice of which top to put on is just cool.

Don't go with #3 if you're looking for a daily driver. Sounds like it's been run hard. It's your choice though, go with your gut feeling.

Going for a Red one huh??? I would cancel out the first choice if you cant get him down.... I like the sound of the middle one... Are you going to mod it though?.... Cause that can sway your choice to the 3rd one

It's obvious to go for the low mileage and droptop experience :yesnod: 20... smoney is not a lot to ask for when a clean low mileage Vette is the topic of conversation :D

Re: Vette Search Update! (bogus)
All the corvettes I have up there are red? I didn't think about that! Cool coincidence. The first choice I actually test drove. The wheels felt like it had a bounce to it, and the brakes need tending to. Otherwise, excellent condition.
As far as modifying the car, probably not. I've always loved the side exhaust better than behind the car styles, plus the intake. That'd be about it. This will be my only car, so I want it to be fun but also reasonable, of course.
I think all the choices are automatics. I know, I know. I love driving sticks, all but 1 of the cars I've had have been sticks. I'm leaning towards an auto since I witnessed my dad's $5k tranny failure on his '99 coupe. Thank God for his warranty. I won't have that option, so maybe I'll decrease my chances of mechanical failure.

Number 1:D.
Number 3 has been driving hard if it has an exhaust. Trust us, we know:D. I wouldn't touch a modified car. Get one that is stock.

Raysur, I totally disagree with you. I am probably an exception to the rule, though. I have just put close to 20K in my engine ( plus exhaust) and I DO NOT beat it. You say ' trust us , we know'. My answer- name names. Maybe the older I get, the more I am afraid to break it. But whoever gets my car whenever I sell it, will get a sub 12 second car that isn't beat.

Re: Vette Search Update! (GDP)
Actually, my dad's exhaust has been modified. He just bought his exhaust last week. He doesn't drive it hard at all really. He just wanted it to sound like a Vette, he got tired of Mustangs sounding louder than him, haha.
My dad's transmission failure: All gears except for 2nd were replaced. Reverse is still annoying, it won't engage until like the 10th time you've tried. That is unholy. He hasn't taken it in yet because it took over a week to fix it last time, plus this place he takes it too takes awhile to get there.
I'm leaning towards an unmodified car myself, only because when I modify it, it'll be "mine" you know? Someone else's mods is someone else's personality. It can be argued that a person must care for his Corvette if he modifies it. Unless he just wants a fast car! I don't know, it's all fun though!
