I picked up this powerwheels C4 that was originally made in 1988 I believe. It's white with red interior and no charger/battery. I intend to gut a new C7 powerwheels for powertrain parts, repaint the body dark metallic blue, and line the interior in black and tan.
I'd like to also add working lights and maybe a sound system. Big project, but my boy's due date is late nov/early dec and I figure that gives me about 2 years to get 'er done.
I would like my father had similar project for me back at the days... But i'm 45 and in 1969 these car were feet powered ha ha, btw i had a little red horse on wheels and litterally destroied it by abuse...good project for your baby even if he will understand later what kind of car it was...
That's a cool project!
I did something similar when my Son was still just tiny. One of the toy stores had a special sale on a Chopper like pedal trike; buy one and get the second @ half price. I went in with my Cousin and we bought two of them. I put mine in the attic and when my Son got his on his third birthday, he was the only kid around to have one!
First steps will be stripping the stickers, removing the spoiler and getting the panels to align properly. As the plastic aged things aren't clicking into place where they should.
I was at a all GM car show earlier this season, and a guy had a remote controlled power wheel. Had his kid strapped in and was booting him around the large parking area. Was kind of cool.
At the time I thought how much fun it would be to put my grandson in a mini-me corvette and take him to shows with me. Maybe some day.
I am trying to locate and purchase a Power Wheels C4 Corvette produced around 1990, preferably in a colour other than the Barbie Pink.
Also preferably on the West Coast (Los Angeles), although not important as I can get it shipped to LA.
They're out there, I got mine by putting a wanted ad on Craigslist. I found several on eBay, but each only wanted to deal with locals due to size and weight.
I have a C4 myself, therefore I am after a C4 version for my son. I would prefer it not to be the pink as they were pink everywhere. I will paint it the same colour as mine, but would prefer not to have to paint the chassis as well. I am prepared to get it freighted to LA. UPS will package/post it. Not cheap, buy...................
You can use the existing platform if the motor is good. Battery Shark has battery and chargers for very RESONABLE prices. Dont pay the $90.00 toy stores are asking. I got my Battery for $20.00 from battery sharks. Mine is a Barbie C5 which I got in the trash. It runs great and was built by Kidtrax. Battery Sharks are on line. the service is excellent and the people very friendly.
I wanted a C4 power wheels for my daughter but I couldn't find any so i had to settle for the C7... I did personalize it. Just waiting for the driver to grow a little
Nice C4. I'll wait until a Power Wheels C4 (hopefully red) turns up. One will eventually. What's the inter-cooler off?
It was supposed to be for the C4 however. I bought it on Craigslist without measuring and it is a tad too big. I will either sell it or scrap it, probably worth more in scrap than what I paid anyways
