Continued 1984 Starting Problems
This is a car I drive...or drove...as a daily driver. The problem started months ago with a slight hesitation of the starter engaging when turning the key. It did it very intermittently. However...it seemed to do it more when the car was hot.....and when the passenger door or hatch had been open prior to starting the car. That kind of points to the starter interrupter. It got to the point of no longer a slight hesitation, it is now a complete will not start for maybe 5 minutes, or maybe an hour. I bypassed the interrupter. Problem NOT solved. Thought maybe a flat spot in the starter....replaced the starter....problem NOT solved.
When I turn the key to the start position.....the interior lights dim and the amp meter in the dash drops 1.5 to 2 amps. So that tells me the key is working.
My questions are......can I completely unplug the security box? Or is that a possible answer? Or could it be a grounding problem?
Thank guys for reading and thanks in advance for any advice. Many of you have been a great help to me on previous problems!!!!!
