Some birds bombed my car yesterday and I just got around to washing it today. But the Poo on the car seems to have imbeded itself under the clear coat. How can I get it off? I have used The swirl mark remover by 3M and some other weak solvents but nothing seems to work. Any Suggestions?
Bird crap is a substance called Uric Acid. It will eat through your clear coat and your paint once it's through the clear coat unless you get it off ASAP since it's acidic.
Technical stuff about the acidity of bird crap: Birds only have one waste opening. The liquid they drink and food they eat all exits through one location on their body after digestion, the anus. Urine is acidic in most animals, and since it has to do with urine and it's acidic, it's called Uric Acid. Acid + paint = bad.
Most people don't know this about birds, therefore they let their paint get damaged because of it. It should buff out. Good luck.
EDIT: WHY do I remember things like that?! Pass this info on to whoever you like, I hate to see cars that get bird crap on them and people don't know it's eating through their paint.
dont feel bad...my paint was only a week old & some stupid bird poopie on my hood, roof & rear quarter! im lucky it didnt sit on the paint too long. after that ive been considering the purchase of a bb gun! :reddevil
i had the same thing happen a month back. i came out from work and there was a real work of art. best part is that there are no trees or anything for a bird to perch upon. they must hover in mid air above my car and then let it go.
this one in particular didn't come off. i came straight home and washed it, but it sat too long in the blasting heat and basically became one with the paint.
Those basterds really do F..k paint. :smash: Shoot them all because one just s..t on my head, and our paint does suffer. :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
