Greetings, I am brand new to this Forum. I'm glad to be aboard. My Garage kept, trickle charged, never see's rain 85 has a problem. When I went to start it yesterday I noticed the UNEO Light blinking furiously at me. Needless to say, my car would not start. I read through the Owners Manual and I think that if I pull the Fuse (10 AMP) for the Theft Deterrent System/Radio, it might resolve the issue and allow me to start my car. Any comments. Very frustrated.

I had an 85, but I don't recall a UNEO light ...

The 85's do have a factory alarm, but they don't have VATS or similar. I doubt pulling a fuse will resolve the issue.

All systems (lights, radio, instrument cluster) are working, however, when I go to start the car nothing happens. I read in the Owners Manual that the Theft Deterrent System disables the Starter via a Solenoid. I am prepared to have it towed to a Chevy Garage as a last resort.

 

Try jumping this and spray WD-40 into the door jam switch on both doors, It works off of those

 

I have an 85...don't know what a UNEO light is......you don't have VATS....try locking/unlocking the passenger door....don't know why, sometimes it works.......

Another "85 here with another WTF is the UNEO light?? Is that on your trickle charger?

 

another 85 here - UNEO light is a new one on me. to the OP - try disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes.

 

vats didnt start till 86. Heck, could be a netrual safty switch.

The only thing that should flash is the "check engine light" in the information display.

No i do know from experience "you must disconnect the battery charger before trying to start the car" it fried my ECM when i did that.
It would crank but ran verry rough and was not drivable just a bad idle.

There is a starter interupt relay "behind the information display" that has the check engine light, I would go thru the basics first.

Lock the door via the lock/unlock switch buttons, then close the door.
Now use the key and unlock the door and put the car in Park "wiggle it and try to start the engine. The car will only start if the Auto trans selector is in neutral or park.

Does your dash turn on? when the trying to start the car?
The ignition switch is on the steering column under the dash, there are two screws that hold it in place. if they are loose the ignition switch may not power the dash or the starter (via the starter interupt relay of course)

If your dash lights up when ignition is turned on the problem may be with the starter interupt relay (if the door lock is not used to open the door after activating the security door locks) or auto trans is not in Park.

Do you hear any clicking? your starter motor may have a bad solenoid?

Of course try disconnecting the battery for a few seconds and reconnect and see if that fixes your problem.

Should be a bad theft deterent relay/starter interupt relay/ ignition switch/ auto trans not set to park/ bad starter motor.

Good luck should be something simple (unless you tried starting the car with battery charger connected) then you will need a ECM

 

The UNEO light is a $500.00 option that only a few 85's came with. It was a dealer add on sold on new 85's to guys who believed there was actually such a thing.

 

So then it makes those special models Faster

 

where can I get one?...always need more speed
