Default Sticky door light switch

Doesn't happen all the time, but starting this weekend the door light switch doesn't always engage when I open the door. I noticed it first when the stereo didn't shut off when I opened the door. Took it happening at night for me to realize why it was happening. This morning when I got to work it happened again, I jiggled the switch on the door and the stereo immediately shut off.

I assume it's just gummy, curious if anyone has a recommendation for cleaning it - spraying it with something, for instance - or if I should just look for a replacement.

BTW, '96 base coupe...

Maybe spray some tuner cleaner on it? (Do they still make that stuff?)

This is what I use:

The G series is meant for gold contacts. I use the D series DeoxIT.

After another day, it does appear to be a contact issue, rather than the button being stuck.

I used to have a can of tuner cleaner around, but it's probably too old to still spray out, even if it's still around.

DeoxIT - pretty high-tech. Not sure I'm qualified to use stuff like that...

Guess I'll stop by Radio Shack and see what they have. Worst part is I have to go into the mall...

I drilled two small holes in the bottom of my switch, sprayed contact cleaner and then used compressed air to blow out the cleaner. I then filled in the holes with hot glue. This seemed to have worked for a while.

That sounds a little drastic, but I guess when you're desperate...

Sorry, been preoccupied.

I picked up some electrical contact cleaner at Advance Auto (never made it to Radio Shack {hate the mall}, and had to get a battery cable bolt for the truck, so while I was there...). I sprayed both door switches, just from the outside, pushing it in while spraying - in reality, the passenger door switch was worse, but that door doesn't get opened very much. The driver's door switch is working fine now, I'll have to get back about the passenger door switch.
