Timing issue

Default Timing issue

Tried to check my timing today on my 85 but couldn't seem to find the bolt to loosen to turn the distributor..anyone know where it is?

In this picture there is a threaded hole at the very top, above the rubber hose. The distributor clamp bolt goes in that hole (not the one on the EGR tube -- that's for the EGR temperature switch):

Sorry to bring this subject back up but still can't seem to find the God damn est cable...I'm looking for a tan and blak wire coming out near the brake booster correct?

It should be closer to the wiper motor. It will be a single wire with a weatherpak plug to connect the wire. You unplug the weatherpak plug and then check your timing. Unplugging the wire will set a code 44 in the computer. Once you check and/or set your timing then plug the wire back together and disconnect the NEGATIVE battery terminal for about 5 minutes. This will erase all stored codes in the computer.
