I bought my '96 LT4 this past summer. The entire exhaust had been replaced with the exception of the drivers side catalytic converter and the exhaust manifolds.
I would like to replace the drivers side converter with the same brand to try to match. I talked to the previous owner but the exhaust was done before his ownership.
Here is a pic of the passenger side converter from underneath the car. It has a heat shield and top and the hanger looks just like some of seen as replacement made for exact fit.
You've mentioned in the past that your car had Flowmaster cat-back so I'd maybe start with them. I believe that most vendors converters should maybe have identifying information maybe stamped on them or maybe a tag attached in some fashion.
You could check maybe with a couple vendors to see if they can pass on to you the information and maybe an image of the correct product, not just a generic image.
I wouldn't think there are that many different manufacturers and most everyone just rebrands someone else's product.
Flowmaster looks like they do offer a direct-fit product. Others?
Found it. Got to be this Magnaflow direct fit. Hanger and top heat shield are identical to this pic I found online.
Doesn't GOT TO BE but it's one of the possible choices. If that's the hanger arrangement then very likely, Magnaflow "cheaps out" on nearly all of their hanger arrangements. Compare their hanger configuration to the Flowmaster 2010013 for the right side.
