Default Valve covers

Need to replace the gaskets on my valve covers because they are just horrendous. Figured I might as well paint them now that they're going to be off cause they look like garbage. Any ideas what colors to paint them? And any tips on how to strip them? Car has a black exterior. Thanks for the help in advance again guys

color, your car, your choice! if you're looking to keep it original, the closest to the factory color is satin nickel. for stripping the original finish - paint stripper, bead blasting (I've done both). trouble is, the original castings are pretty bad. the factory used a sandy-textured finish to hide the casting flaws. eastwood use to have a sandy-texture argent silver paint that replicated the factory finish fairly good, but they don't sell it anymore. powder coating is an option, but it will cost more. do a search of paint valve covers. lots of threads over the years.

Thanks for the quick reply! Thinking of going black with white or gray in the grooves, what do you think?

This is the same paint I used. The valve covers looked like new after I painted them. It doesn't turn brown and doesn't chip off. It's been more than 5 years now and they still look great.
