Default Removing Rear emblems

I managed to get the nose emblem off, but I can't get the rear emblems off! I removed the gas lid and can get my arm into that little hole to get to those whatevers on the back of the emblem, but how do you get them off? Prying with a screwdriver didn't seem to work. Also the emblem on the gas lid is really really stuck. Is it just glued once the 2 speednuts on the underside are removed? I can't seem to get that off either. I'm buffing the car and would like to get the nooks & crannies cleaned up too. Thanks, ~Juliet

I used a forked trim tool when I changed mine. It wasn't seriously stuck though. The trim tool didn't damage the gas lid & had a wide enough fork to pull the emblem off the lid. Hope that helps.

gas lid and rear corvette emblem are both screwed and glued. take the nuts off and pry them off. careful not to scratch the car. i got the gas lid one off ok but i ruened the corvette one. you can still get new ones but you have to paint the corvette one. good luck.

Sounds like at least a 2 wine cooler job. :D BTW, one bottle of wine cooler I had the other day had "flavored beer" in the fine print.

Thanks. I didn't try the hairdryer. Are those nuts on the back of the CORVETTE speednuts? Anyone know what size? Because they sure didn't seem like they were nuts, just some press on thinggies. :( ~Juliet

They are either 9 or 10mm (as I recall, don't quote me).

On the back of CORVETTE there shouldn't be anything. The pegs are just locators. At least there was nothing on mine to suggest a speednut, and nothing came with the new one.

I recently pulled off my emblem on the fuel door. I used a heat gun we use for shrink wrap and removing decals. This worked great!! Would not have attempted it without heat....

I've had good luck removing emblems from motocycles using heat and dental floss(same principle as the fishing line some of the others suggested). These emblems were attached with just some type of adhesive. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

THere are 2 speed nuts on the back side which you access through 2 little holes on the underside of the hood. That was easy. Mine had no glue on it. (Not sure if that's the way they came from the factory or not though.)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I conked out and went to bed early last night instead of futzing around in the hot garage. :D Tonight I'll tackle it again though.
