Default Plastic Door Panel

Does anyone know what type of plastic Chevrolet used in the 1994 door panel plastic they attached the interior trim pieces to?

The plastic on may door panel is cracked near the aft mounting hole.

I need to use the correct glue for repairs. Need to find out the type of plastic composition to get the correct glue.

Thanks,

Jim

I can't tell you what type of plastic was used, but my 85's door panels were shot - almost to the point that I considered replacements. i had some serious cracking along the top front and rear mounting surfaces, sections of plastic missing on the aft-rear screw holes, and what appeared to be general stress cracking. with the "nothing ventured, nothing gained" mindset, I though I'd give repairs a try. what worked out extremely well, was fabricating, small, patch panels from .016 aluminum, and using JB weld along with 1/8" pop rivits. JB weld seems to bond really well to a (solvent) clean and sanded surface. I can say, that the repairs are rock solid. hopefully, I can get another 30 years out of the door panels. I'd post some pics, but right now, I'm having issues with photobucket.

The type of plastic should be molded into the door panel and it should be very conspicuous. Look for the information very near the molded in part number on the back-side of the panel.

I have a '90 panel here that is ABS and that is molded into the panel inside of an oval. Most plastics used in the automotive industry are identified so that the proper repair and refinish protocols can be used. It's nothing that is 'super secret'.

, "should be" and "MOST plastics" -- on my 85's panel, I show the following:

IC NO. 46242
PART NO. 14049080
R.H. DOOR
ID. NO. Z-2313

not sure what the IC numbers and the ID numbers are - maybe some sort of plastic ID - ??? - but no other place on the inner plastic is any type of identification. nothing like ABS inside an oval. side topic - I do show the date code - 5 183. I'm assuming its a julian date, 183 (july 2nd), and 5 being 1985. my 85 was a july 85 built car, and as far as I know, original door panels.
