Re: leather seats (93aqua)
I take off my cell phone (I wear it on the left side) before I get in. Also Ive found that the way you get in makes a big diff too. I turn and face directly away from the door then squat and sit down into it then swing the legs both in at the same time. Plus that ways a LOT easier on the assorted body parts involved. Something Ive found works great for putting the color back into the leather when it gets scuffed is shoe dye. Specifically what you would use on the heels of shoes. You can even mix colors to get the exact shade you want of black, grey, red whatever. Works great!
I just struck leather gold, My vette was in the shop getting some little things done and the owner of the shop informed me he had a whole set of Ruby leathers (minus the passenger lower portion) in the original box. I payed he 300 for the entire set minus that lower portion which i don't need because my driver seat is the side that need replacing .. this save me from buying the whole set for 1200 plus,,
Sidenote, I had a torn portion of my seat in my BMW and had it replaced by a local shop that does custom interiors and they only charged 70 bucks for the piece they replaced-- if you don't have a hard to match color I would go down that road
The dilemma..pay $200 to repair it or pay $600 to recover both of them with new leather..
Here is a trick you can use in the meantime.. The seatback literally unclips off the hard shell. Just swap the driver with the passenger side. I did this cause I hated looking at the beat up cushion.
If you pull the side of the seatback over, you can see the clips that hold in place.
If anyone has a RED seatback for standard seats...I am interested. I think they are the same from 1990-1993
At least y'all have leather seats that HAVE replacement covers available. Since only 379 91's came with black cloth seats....it'll be a long time before I find replacement covers for mine

Just finished repairing a worn spot on my '93 ruby leather seat bolster, and I am very satisfied. Click on MAGIC MENDER and research their auto kit for $45. The application is extremely easy. There is no need to purchase the aerosol sprayer for the color application. The foam brushes work just fine. Just remember the filler and color are heat sensitive, as they will dry faster in a warm climate. I satisfied the heat requirement by placing a Trouble light (60 watts) near the work area. Just clean the repair spot and surrounding area well with an alcohol patch (provided with the kit), thinly apply the filler as many times as required, wipe smooth with another alcohol patch, let dry, then apply the color with the foam brush as many time as required, after each coat has dried, until you are satisfied. I'm here to help.
hmm you can't really see the entire seat in this pic but you can see a bit of the driver side seat. this is the interior of my 89 these are black cloth seats.
