New to the Forum and new to Corvettes.
I am in the Air Force and I am stationed at Pope AFB, NC which is right outside Fayetteville and Ft Bragg, NC. I just got my first Vette and of course it is a basket case, minus the basket of parts... It is a White 1994 LT1 coupe with the 6 spd trans. I wanted an auto but this was what came my way.
The body is great except for one missing panel next to the battery. The engine compartment is missing allot!!! Lots of stuff was stolen off of this car, but most of it was under the hood and electrical in nature. Everything that is around the radiator is missing, as well as most of the sensors, ALT, AC compressor (hoses & dryer too), and other things I am not even aware of yet I am sure.
I am hoping to find a knowledgeable friend in NC that could lend a careful eye to help me make a list of things I need to buy and do for the car. Any one out there in the area and want to help a guy with his first vette?
Oh, and what shop manual would you recommend?
Chris

First off welcome to the forum  and welcome to the extended corvette family. It sound slike you have a good project ahead of you and Im sure youll find a lot of knowledge in this group. I use a Haynes maintenance manual for working on my vette but in your case maybe investing in the authentic GM shop manual might be a good idea. If you look online they can be had at a reasonable rate. You need to post some pics of your vette, expecially before, during and after pics as the project progresses. If you have missing components and dont have a clue what they are posting a pic will get an immediate response from someone in the forum that will know. You have a good strong base to start with so Im sure youll do ok. Just dont lket yourself get discouraged by it. And Im always glad to see another USAF member in the area as Im ex air force myself. Again welcome and good luck!

The missing panel next to the battery can ne had on ebay any where from $20-$70, either new or used.
Call Contemporary Corvette in Bristol,PA 1-800-367-8388 ask for Ron(you'll probably end up talking to Rocky), tell him I sent you, give him a list and a credit card # and in a few days, you'll have everything you need. He ships UPS daily.

Thanks everyone, I will post some pics to show what ever progress I make, as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Enjoy the car bro. I am in the AF too, Travis, CA. I recently bought an 86 Vette and have been doing so much to it already. It is really starting to look real sweet though and I am getting a lot of compliments, (even from the previous owner) . Good luck w/the restoration.

I was checking out the locked post in Tech...
the helms manual is the best. if you order it tomorrow, express ship, it will be to you by wednesday or thursday. better to deal with that book, than waste time with a hayes or chilton.
also, there is a book published by Robert Bentley called "Corvette Fuel Injection and Ignition, 1982-2001". The bible of electronic engine controls...

 and welcome to the best Corvette forum you'll find anywhere. I'm ex Air Force myself and recommend that since you're in the military you must be on a tight budget. I recommend finding a local Vette salvage yard and start there. Get the base hobby shop (if they still have those) to order the books you need and ask around there and I'll bet you find a Vette mechanic. Also learn how to post pix and someone on the forum will get you all the info you need. Also check out the local clubs for info :smash: :smash: :smash: :flag
