Picked up this 84 today to try to save. Will be doing all of the work myself and using a lot of parts I already have.
It needs paint and interior, and all of the common things. I have a lot of parts that I have saved over the years that I will use to keep the cost down. I will also be doing paint and body work myself. I hope to be in it as cheap as possible and have a nice driver.
Nice of you to save an 84, I really enjoy mine. I tell anyone looking for an a Corvette that is really inexpensive, to go with the 84. I don't think that there is a better Corvette value than the 84 right now.
I bought mine about 5 years ago with 84k miles for $4,700.00 and could have only spent about $1,000.00 to have a good car -but we can never leave well enough alone, so I have probably put about $3500.00 into it, including a "driver" paint job by a shop.

The 84's are very overlooked and get a bad rap. I crack up when people start telling me how bad the cross fire is, and most of those that run them down have never even physically touched an 84.
An 84 was my first car, and has a special place in my heart. i ought that car back, and will restore it one day also. It is red on red auto base suspension.

Mine is a 4+3, Z/51 with a ported cross fire intake, 1.6 roller tip rockers, a high flow cat and muffler eliminators. So nothing major done and with 96k miles on it now, I am amazed by how great it runs. It is a red on red that I replaced the seat covers and carpet.

I love your car. One day I want a Z51, 4+3 car and preferably red on red.
The 84's really are a special Corvette. They have a cult following and I am proud to say that I have owned two and am currently in the works to buy another!
I just finished an 89... interior and paint wasn't too bad but the previous owner took out the computer (wires and all). Also, a carburator replaced the TPI and the car ran awful!
I ended up replacing the motor with a goodwrench crate motor from Jeggs. I went with Edelbrock for intake and carb, ram horn exhaust manifolds. I did the work at a friend's shop (on a lift)... the over all cost on the engine work, tires, shocks and brakes came to around 4k. I also paid a corvette shop to rewire the tail lights for me and a few other things... all in all I have 5k in the whole project and ended up with a beautiful convertible that runs like a new car! Best wishes to you and your 84!

The car currently isn't running, but I jacked up the front end and turned the steering wheel. It looks like 2 turns lock to lock, so I hope it is a Z-51 and not just a rack change.
I also hooked up my battery charger and tested the headlights and power windows. The headlights opened and closed unbelieveably fast. The windows were slow, but worked. Digital dash flashed but didn't stay on. It is a later year dash, so I will be replacing with an 84 unit that I have in storage.
I also took some pics of the carpet and door panels I will be using and some overall pics of the car.
Now for the good stuff. almost new door panels and carpet from a parts car I bought. The parts have about 200 miles on them. The drivers door panel needs carpet replaced which also came with the parts car and it has a few blisters from the engine fire.
Will post carpet pics later, having a few problems posting pics.
It will look awesome with that dark interior!! Did you have a chance to check for the silver BMB tag on the spring? Should be one tag on either side. Can't wait to see more pics!!
